PLAGIARISM

WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?

Plagiarism is an act whether it is by words, idea or action from other people and we take them claiming it is ours. For an example, you came up with a gadget that can help people do their task with one click but you friend took that idea and sell that gadget to other company without giving you credit nor commercial. That's one of the example for plagiarism.

HOW TO PREVENT PLAGIARISM

People often think there's no way they can avoid plagiarism if there is a way they won't even know. Lucky you, here are some ways to prevent this crime.

1. Paraphrasing- so you found an information that is great for your assignment. The first thing you need to do is read all of it then put it in your own words. Make sure not to copy exactly more than two of the words in that information but if you copy more than two you must use the quotation mark.

2. Referencing- this is an other way to avoid plagiarism by adding a referencing page. This must be specific details including the author' name , date , the date of publication, title and source.

Example: Jojo Moyes. (2012). Me Before You. United Kingdom: Michael Joseph.

3. APA is  American Psychological Association. It can cite any information in 2 different ways.

  • Within the text and in referencing at the end of the text
  • Make one page for referencing
4. Make sure to edit your assignment and making sure they aren't any plagiarism before you submit them.

5. Refer to your lecturer for the turnitin account to assess your paraphrasing or any other anti plagiarism apps.
